LoopIn Privacy Policy
LoopIn (“LoopIn,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a community mobile application that helps people post and discover ride and housing needs and message each other privately. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using LoopIn, you agree to this Policy.
1. Who this Policy covers
This Policy applies to the LoopIn mobile apps for Android and iOS and related services we operate. LoopIn is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a minor has provided information to us, contact us using the details below and we will delete it.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following categories:
2.1 Account and profile information
- Google account sign-in. You sign in with Google through our authentication provider. Depending on what Google shares with us, this may include your Google account identifier, name, and email address.
- Profile name. The display name shown to other users in the community (from Google or entered during setup).
- Email address. Stored with your account for authentication and account administration. Your email is not displayed on posts to other users.
- Account status. For example, whether your account is active or suspended for safety or policy reasons.
2.2 Content you create
- Ride and housing posts, including titles and details you enter (such as route or area descriptions, dates, times, seats, budget, preferences, and notes).
- Messages you send in private conversations with other users about a post.
- Reports and blocks, including the reason you provide when reporting another user and records of accounts you have blocked.
2.3 Location you choose (not GPS)
LoopIn lets you select a U.S. state and city to filter and label community posts. We store that selection on your device and may associate city/state with posts you create. LoopIn does not collect precise GPS coordinates and does not continuously track your physical location.
2.4 Device and notification information
- Push notification token. If you allow notifications, we may store a device push token so we can send alerts (for example, about new messages).
- App preferences stored on your device, such as theme (light/dark/system) and your selected city/state filter.
- Basic technical information needed to operate the app and our infrastructure (for example, authentication session data).
2.5 Information we do not collect (current version)
- Precise GPS or continuous location tracking
- Payment card or banking details (LoopIn does not process payments)
- Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera content as a product feature
- Advertising identifiers for third-party ads (we do not run in-app ads today)
- Third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the current app build
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Create and secure your account (including Google sign-in)
- Show your profile name to other users in posts and chat
- Publish, filter, and display ride and housing posts
- Deliver private messaging between conversation participants
- Send optional push notifications related to app activity
- Enforce Community Guidelines, Terms, and safety controls (blocks, reports, suspensions)
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve LoopIn
- Comply with law and respond to lawful requests
We do not sell your personal information.
4. How information is shared
- Other users. Your display name and the content of your posts are visible to other users of LoopIn. Messages are visible to participants in that conversation. Email addresses are not shown on posts.
-
Service providers. We use trusted processors to run the app, including:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and realtime messaging infrastructure
- Google — sign-in (OAuth)
- Expo / EAS — app build, delivery, and push notification infrastructure
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or if we believe it is necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, or enforce our policies.
- Business transfers. If LoopIn is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or notice to users.
5. Data retention
We keep account, post, message, report, and block data for as long as your account remains active and as needed to operate the community and safety features. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us. We may retain limited information when required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes (for example, records of serious abuse reports).
6. Your choices and rights
- Account information: You can update your display name in the app where that feature is available.
- Location filter: You can change or clear your selected city/state in the app.
- Notifications: You can disable push notifications in your device settings.
- Blocks / reports: You can block users and report content or accounts from the app.
- Access / deletion: You may request access to or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
Depending on where you live (for example, under CCPA/CPRA or similar laws), you may have additional rights to know, delete, or correct personal information, and to appeal a denial. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including authenticated access controls and database rules that limit who can read chat and profile data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International users
LoopIn may be operated using infrastructure located in the United States or other countries. If you use the app from outside those locations, you understand that your information may be processed in countries that may have different data-protection laws than your own.
9. Third-party services and links
Google sign-in and other third-party services are governed by those providers’ policies. LoopIn does not control third-party sites or services you may visit outside the app.
10. Important product disclaimer
LoopIn is a bulletin and messaging tool. We do not provide transportation or lodging, do not process payments or commissions, and do not guarantee the identity, reliability, or outcomes of interactions between users. Use caution when meeting others and make your own safety decisions.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or through other reasonable means. Continued use of LoopIn after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
